Natural Health in 2012
2012 brings new beginnings and with that often comes the reevaluation of our visions and goals for the future. I invite you to take a few moments and create a vision for yourself in the future. Do you find yourself energized and radiant, rejuvenated and well-rested, motivated and successful? Do you envision yourself playing with your grandchildren, taking up a new sport, or feeling and looking healthy? We have the ability to be all of this and more when we focus on our health and wellness.Naturopathic Medicine with its holistic and natural approach can help you to reach these goals and follow your personal path towards optimal wellbeing and successful living.
The first question I often ask my patients on their first visit is “what are your goals for your health and what are your expectations of me as your healthcare provider?” I also ask them to rate their commitment to their health. The answers to these three questions provide me with valuable information that helps me to treat the patient as an individual and not as their disease. The answers to these questions also help to guide our developing relationship as patient and doctor. This 2012, it is time to start having greater expectations of your healthcare providers and your treatment plans. Take a moment to make a list of all of the people that contribute to and are responsible for your health and wellbeing: your doctors, pharmacists, alternative health practitioners, Herbal Path staff, your insurance company, and of course most importantly and most responsible is YOU. Do these providers know and understand your goals, if not then it may be time to enlighten them. As healthcare providers we “provide” you with service. Make certain that you are receiving the service that you deserve from your healthcare team. Together we can support the growth of our current medical model into a model that services the individual and supports health and wellbeing in all.
